In 1998, the Inuit of Nunavut purchased Canadian North to provide a higher quality of air travel for all northerners. The expansion into four more Kitikmeot communities is taking that dream one step further.

We’re proud to introduce our new Dash 8 aircraft with the same great inflight service you’ve come to expect from Aurora Class. Our flexible Combi aircraft ensures frequent and consistent delivery of your freight throughout the Region.

Our NEW everyday lower airfare will make your air travel more affordable. Flights are on sale now for travel starting June 3, 2007. Schedule Highlights include:

  • Kugaaruk service – 4 days/week
  • Gjoa Haven service – daily
  • Taloyoak service – 6 days/week
  • Cambridge Bay service – daily
  • Kugluktuk service – 6 days/week
  • Next day connections to Rankin Inlet, Iqaluit and Ottawa

Dash 8

We will serve the Kitikmeot Region primarily using our quick and comfortable Dash 8 combi aircraft. The Dash 8 offers:

  • Multiple configuration options provide flexible cargo capacity to meet your needs with 21 passenger/3,000 lbs cargo being the most common
  • Hot galley enables Canadian North to provide full Aurora Class service
  • The cabin noise suppression system keeps the cabin nice and quiet
  • GPS and gravel strip equipped
  • Flying speed of 320 miles/hour

  • NorTerra Inc. is jointly owned by the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC), representing the Inuvialuit of the Western Arctic and Nunasi Corporation, representing the Inuit of Nunavut
  • NorTerra Inc. purchased Canadian North in 1998
  • Canadian North and its founding companies (PWA, Transair, Nordair, Canadian Airlines International) have served the north for over 80 years
  • We are involved in northern communities through sponsorship and support of special events, sports teams, school activities and community festivals
  • Canadian North creates employment for over three hundred people, including Inuit and Inuvialuit beneficiaries

When you book Canadian North you will receive our friendly northern hospitality we call Aurora Class service including:

  • Complimentary wine service (on evening flights)
  • We employ flight attendants who are fluent in the languages of the north including Inuvialuktun, Inuktitut and French (Japanese seasonally)
