Children's And Youth Fares

Children's Fare

Children between the ages of 2 to 11 receive 10% off available fares on confirmed travel when they are travelling with an adult, or anyone paying an adult fare. Call Canadian North Reservations at 1-800-661-1505 for specific fare information.

Youth Standby Fare

Passengers aged 12 to 24 are eligible for our Youth Standby Fare – 10% off our MNORTH fare.  Available seats are first-come, first-served, so early check-in is recommended. Canadian North staff are also more than happy to recommend the flights most likely to have ample standby seating.

To ensure the smoothest possible standby experience, please have with you picture ID (with proof of age) and check in at least an hour before departure.

Unaccompanied Travel by Children

Every day northern communities entrust Canadian North with safely delivering precious cargo – and none more precious than our youngest travelers. Children who are at least five years of age and have not yet reached their 12th birthday may travel as unaccompanied minors once a parent or guardian has completed an Unaccompanied Minor Form.

Departure

On the day of travel, the adult bringing the child to the airport must stay with them until boarding, and remain in the airport until the flight’s departure.

Arrival

Unaccompanied minors must be met by an individual designated for pick-up, providing proof of identification.

Between drop-off and pick-up, Canadian North will:

  • Verify that the child’s flight is operating as scheduled. In the event of delays or diversion, Canadian North will assist in making alternate arrangements for the child's travel.
  • Ensure completion of required documentation.
  • Assign seating convenient for Flight Attendant supervision.
  • Identify your child to the gate agents and flight attendants, and provide an ID Tag to be worn by your child at all times.
  • Pre-board your child.
  • Escort the child to the arrivals area and release him or her to a designated person only upon verifying picture ID and receiving their signature (a fee of $40.00 is charged for this service).

Infants

  • Before their 2nd birthday, babies travel free of charge, sharing the seat of an accompanying adult. Alternately, infants may be seated in restraint devices certified for automobile and aircraft travel in an adjoining seat. Canadian North is pleased to provide a guaranteed adjoining seat for half the regular adult fare.
  • Infants under a week old can only be accepted for air travel upon the completion of a T43 Incapacitated Passenger Declaration Form, or with a doctor's certificate clearing them for travel.
