June 6, 2007 - Quad Contest Winner

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                                               June 6, 2007

Yellowknife NWT – Willy Aqlukkaq from Gjoa Haven became the new owner of a Polaris Sportsman 450 Quad today as the winner of Canadian North’s recent contest in the Kitikmeot region.

When Willy attended Canadian North’s event celebrating the launch of their new service into the Kitikmeot region a few weeks ago he was thrilled to see that Canadian North would be providing a competitive alternative to air transportation in his community. Entering the draw for the quad was an extra perk – he never dreamed he’d be the winner.

Canadian North will be transporting the quad into Gjoa Haven on their Dash 8 Combi which can hold up to 21 passengers and 3,000 pounds of cargo.

On June 3rd Canadian North expanded its regularly scheduled service to include Gjoa Haven, Kugaaruk, Kugluktuk and Taloyoak. In May, members of all five communities were invited to enter the draw for the quad during Canadian North’s visit to each of these communities. “Meeting so many members of the community really validated our commitment to providing this essential service,” says Tom Ruth, President of Canadian North. “Thank you to all who entered the contest and for welcoming us so warmly into your communities.”

The airline is owned by the Inuit of Nunavut and the Inuvialuit of the western arctic so all advertising and promotions will reflect the people they serve and their ownership group who are … seriously northern.
